- Raw Materials Crushing
In order to ensure efficient feed pelletizing, the raw materials should be crushed into smaller pieces. For much smaller pieces, the airflow with high pressure in the rotating hammers can make the materials into smallest pieces.
- Raw Materials Mixing
Crushed raw materials will be mixed to improve the nutrients and quality of the final produced fish feed pellets.
- Feed Pelletizing
The feed extruder machine is adopted to make feed pellets. It has wide ranges of capacity, easy operation and less maintenance features. - Feed Pellet Drying
Drying is necessary and indispensable in fish pellet extruding line since the feed pellet directly coming from extruder is of high content of moisture. Drying process can lower the temperature and remove most of the moisture.
- Oil Spraying
This process is designed to improve the feed taste and smell. The oil spraying machine is used to spray atomized oil on the surface and inner of feed pellets.
- Pellets Cooling & Packaging
Feed pellets after oil spraying process will become soft when the temperature is rising, so cooling process can make it hardened. Final produced fish feed at normal temperature will be packed by automatic bagging machine for storage or sales.

Extruder Die Temperature on Fish Pellets
Research was carried out to find the impact starch source and extrusion die temperatures have on the physical properties of the pellets. Its results proved that starch source has a tangible impact on extruder pellets. However, it is only floatability and the content of moisture that is not affected by these conditions.
- Definition of Extrusion
Extrusion is a way of making food and feeds often applied by most companies that involve HTST food. In extrusion cooking, the raw materials have to change structure chemical. This process is quite complicated because its ingredients are of high quality and unsteady because it depends on barrelâs temperature profile, rate and of feed, the die profile, type of extruder, configuration and the speed of the crew.
- Analysis of Pellet Durability, Expansion Ratio, and Water Absorption
After mixing taro and rice starch that is broken, separate this mixture by use of a single screw extruder. The profile of the barrel temperature has three zones, set each of the three zones at a constant temperature of seventy, ninety, and one hundred degree Celsius. By doing this, you will be able to analyze the moisture content, the ratio of expansion, density of bulk, floatability, durability and solubility index, and water absorption.
From the results, it is clear that the physical properties of pellets are affected by high die temperature. Also, the conversion of the starch source from taro to broken ice was significant. The diet of fish with excess broken rice starch than diet had the most ER, PDI, and WAI. When the die temperature rose from one hundred and twenty-five to one hundred and seventy degree Celsius, there was an increase of the value percentages of MC by 7.0, ER by 3.5, F by 103.6, PDI by 0.1, and WAI by 13.5. Also, as the die temperature was rising, the values in BD fell by 9.4 and WSI by 12.2%.
